Owner’s bio:

Jennifer Cominetti-Craig

It is possible that my career in massage therapy began when I was a young child in Minneapolis, Minnesota, where my older sister would bribe me for back rubs. But it was a somewhat long and winding path to get to where I am now. I originally went to college pre-med, thinking that I would go into Sports Medicine of some kind because I loved sports and I loved medicine, but I was also drawn to psychology and counseling. By default and as a continuation of what got me through college, I ended up spending 10 years coaching and teaching swimming. I loved coaching and would have continued, but motherhood took priority and I spent a few years being a stay-at-home-mom. When the kids got old enough for me to venture back into the work force, I spent some time in graduate school at Purdue, and a course in career counseling really helped me to realize that what I really wanted to be was a massage therapist.

I have found my calling in Massage Therapy. It is the perfect blend of physiology, psychology and spirituality. It is my favorite thing, and I love being able to share it with others. My background in competing in and coaching competitive sports has led me to really love working with athletes – of all levels - and I have been fortunate to work with some of the sports teams at Purdue. I am a graduate of the Midwest Academy of Healing Arts in Brownsburg, Indiana, nationally certified through the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork (NCTMB), and a professional member of the American Massage Therapy Association (AMTA). My training involves an eclectic mix of techniques including Swedish, Deep Tissue,Trigger Point, Myofascial, Reflexology, and Reiki. My faith in massage stems from my great appreciation for the mind-body connection . I believe relaxation is crucial to mental and physical recovery, injury prevention, and rehabilitation, and I feel honored to be able to help people achieve their goals.

Pam McCoy - Reflexologist and Massage Therapist

The variety of people and the hands-on work are what I most enjoy about massage. When I am working with you I ask myself, “what combination of touch will bring this body (or mind or spirit) more peace today?”. I am fascinated with discovering ways to assist in bringing more ease and balance to your body. Swedish massage, deep tissue therapy, muscle release techniques, trigger point therapy and hot stone therapies are some of the therapeutic massage modalities I employ. I also find Reflexology, Reiki and Bodywork centered on helping life-altering illness very rewarding.

Kate Mahoney - Massage Therapist

I was born and raised in Lafayette. I graduated from Healthy Lifestyle School of Massage Therapy in Muncie in 2003. I am a certified massage therapist and I provide Swedish and Deep Tissue techniques. I started at Myotherapy in the Spring of 2007. When I am not working I enjoy spending time with my family.

Elizabeth Donald - Massage Therapist

I believe in the healing power of touch; Healthy bodies allow for healthy minds and healthy spirits. I graduated from Crystal Mountain School of Therapeutic Massage in Albuquerque, New Mexico in 2006. I am Nationally Certified and have held licenses in two states. Modalities I incorporate in my massage are Swedish, NMT, Trigger Point, and Deep Tissue. Very relaxing, very thorough, and very beneficial!

Carla Rock - Feldenkrais Practitioner

I have been a physical therapist in Lafayette, IN since 1990 and a Feldenkrais Teacher since 2004.

The Feldenkrais Method®, like both physical therapy and massage, focuses on improving movement and function, and reducing pain and stiffness. What is different about the Feldenkrais Method is that it works with gentle movement designed to improve the connection between your muscles, joints and bones, and your nervous system. It involves “kinesthetic awareness”, or the physical sensations you feel when moving. The result is more coordinated, less effortful movement.

The Feldenkrais Method helps people with conditions such as pain syndromes, neurological compromises such as stroke or MS, and people of all ages and levels of health who are recovering from injuries. Clients are fully clothed, removing shoes, belts, glasses, or anything such as large jewelry which could limit free, easy movement. Each session is custom designed for you according to your request for easier movement, improved functioning or pain relief.

I am happy to “hang my shingle” at Myotherapy Massage Center, and hope to meet you soon!
