Jennifer first became interested in massage therapy from a sports medicine perspective and as an athlete and coach. Being a competitive swimmer, runner, and triathlete defined her youth and career path. Until she had kids and became a mom. Taking more time to spend with her family, she eventually turned to massage therapy as a more balanced approach to life and health. She began working at Myotherapy in 2007.
She still loves sports and does a lot of sports massage with athletes. But she also believes that there is an athlete in all of us, especially the "retired athletes", and she loves working with people of all levels of activity.
In addition to the sports aspect, Jennifer has experience with PTSD and working with survivors and others in a safe environment. The mental, emotional, and physical safety of everyone is very important to her and she works to maintain a place where people are safe and comfortable.
Her sessions usually consist of a mix of techniques including Swedish, Deep-Tissue, Trigger Point, Lomi-Lomi, Myofascial stretching and release, Reflexology, and Reiki. She can also incorporate cupping and hot stones.
In addition to working at Myotherapy, Jennifer is adjunct faculty for the massage training program at Ivy Tech. She is a graduate of Washington University in St. Louis, with graduate work at Purdue University, and massage training through the Midwest Academy of Healing Arts. She is married to a Purdue professor and has two grown kids who are finishing up college and music conservatory and traveling the world and heading to graduate school. She also has two old dogs who remind her to relax and appreciate every day, and a somewhat new interest in gardening and cooking from her pandemic life.
